Need another reason to lift the secrecy laws that protect hospitals?  Consider that the OIG recently found that only 1% of adverse events that occur in hospitals are reported as required by law. Patient-harm that results is reported even less.  When compared to other industries that are not protected by secrecy laws, the hospital industry is the most dangerous for the public - and it isn't getting any better.  Perhaps it is about time to shine a light inside the hospital industry so that informed consumers can decide which hospitals they trust with the lives of their loved ones.
