A study published in the journal Metabolism on October 7, 2022 has found that COVID19 caused a 64% increase in the risk of diabetes in the study cohort. Diabetes is a serious disease that brings a long list of life- and limb-threatening complications. The study found that the risk of diabetes increased further with each additional COVID19 infection. The results show that COVID19 prevention and mitigation efforts remain critically important public health concerns moving forward. As other studies have shown, N95 masking and proper ventilation remain some of the most important steps in avoiding COVID-19 infection.
