For those with aging parents, take note. A new study shows that walking daily improves function of those with peripheral artery disease of the legs.  That's the condition where the legs or feet hurt and may be cool to the touch. Elderly folks may complain of this and be reluctant to move or walk as much as before.  It also increases risk of mobility loss, assisted living or nursing home admission, or risk of death.  Frequently, this is a result of years of smoking or diabetes. The good news is a recent study that shows that this condition can be improved by a home-based walking program. So, if you have aging parents spend some time walking with them daily. It's a win-win.
