In a study conducted on 100 recently recovered COVID19 patients that was published in JAMA Cardiology, 78% participants were found to have heart damage and 60% were found to have continuing heart inflammation suggesting ongoing perimyocarditis. These findings were irrespective of the severity of COVID19 in these patients; ;the study controlled for co-morbidities as well. These findings are alarming and the authors suggested further study with a larger cohort.
