The US government says some nurses in Texas have fake degrees.
Recently, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General and US Department of Justice concluded a multi-state coordinated law enforcement action to apprehend people who were selling fraudulent nursing diplomas and transcripts. So far, 25 people have been charged for their involvement in the scheme.
The scheme involved fake diplomas from Florida-based nursing schools. The buyers used them to take the national nursing board exam. Twenty eight hundred of seventy six hundred buyers passed their exams and became eligible to obtain nursing licenses in Texas, among other states. Many of those buyers went to work as RNs and LVNs in Texas healthcare facilities.
The Texas Board of Nursing has so far disclosed the identity of fake nurses involved in “Operation Nightingale.” Review the current list by clicking here.
