The Health and Human Services secretary under President George W. Bush, Tommy Thompson, has co-founded the Working Group on Pharmaceutical Safety to enhance safety of drugs sold by compounding pharmacies. His co-founder, Sarah Sellers, is a licensed pharmacist. The advocacy group will work to give oversight authority over large compounding centers to the FDA.
