18-wheeler crash in Texas kills 2 Illinois students

Northeastern Illinois University students Victor Maldonado, 18, of Chicago IL and David Roman, 23, of Mundelein IL were killed Friday January 17, 2014 after they were involved in a crash with an 18-wheeler during a road trip through Texas. Maldonado was pronounced dead at the scene and Roman was pronounced dead at Northwest Texas Hospital, a Texas DPS spokesperson said.
Three other people in the vehicle --David Rubio, Thomas Kyle, and Seth Amofa-- were taken to Northwest Texas Hospital where their conditions were stabilized, officials said.
All persons in the car were members of the Omega Delta Phi fraternity and were traveling to Tuscon, Ariz. for a conference for their fraternity.
